Natural Disasters--earthquales

Out of all the natural disasters there are, the one that interests me the most would have to be Earthquakes. I think I am most interested in earthquakes because they cause so much damage and they can happen at any time of the day, with no weather conditions to trigger them.
A recent earthquake in the U.S. is the earthquake in Haiti. The Haiti earthquake was a 7.0 magnitude earthquake, near the town of Leogane. This earthquake occured on January 12, 2010, at 4:53 pm. The government in Haiti said about 217,000 to 230,000 people died during this earthquake. By January 24, about 52 aftershocks measuring 4.5 and higher occured.
Most families can not recover from this natural disaster because they have lost everything they ever had, they lost their houses, their cars, and all of their belongings. Some people have even lost family and friends that they will never forget losing. But some families might be able to recover from something like this, maybe if they move to another location and start a brand new life, with new friends and the family they have left. I have never been affected by an earthquake.
